Activities
Some of the major activities implemented by the SWS since its inception are summed up as follow:
- Training for promotion and preservation of Sunuwar Women's traditional skill, knowledge and culture.
- Hosting Shandar every twice in a year ( Baishakh and Mansir month) making alliance with Sunuwar Welfare Society.
- Participating in exhibition of Sunuwar costumes, ornaments and publications(2063, 2064)
- Phenerelphu (Jalirumal ) knitting training (15 Days)
- Shyandarsil (Chandi Naach) training (15 Days)
- Training for the empowerment of Sunuwar Women
- Compost manure making Training (gadeula mal banaune training)
- Capacity Building Training for Executive Members SWS -1Day
- Basic Anchoring / Public Speaking Training - 15Days
- Organization Development and Good Governance Training -1Day
- Training for raising awareness regarding on
- Constitutional Assembly and Human Rights Training (2063)
- TOT on Constitutional Assembly for central committee members (2064)
-Lobbing and advocating on indigenous women's rights at
local as well as at national level with the other members of National
Indigenous Women's Federation.
-Publication:
- publication on social, cultural, gender and political aspect
of Sunuwar Womens as well as Indigenous Women. ( Quarterly magazine
named 'Sirmi') - Sunuwar People's Telephone Directory (2062)
- Publication and distribution of Organization Doctrine (2063)
- Formation of Sunuwar Women's Society, District Executive Committee in 11 districts so far.
-Active participation in programs organized by National Indigenous
Women's Federation, Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities
(NEFEIN), National Foundation for Development of Indigenous
Nationalities (NEFDIN), Indigenous Women's Forum (IWF) and Sunuwar
Welfare Society (SWS).
-Establishment of networks within organizations having common issues.
